San Bartolo Apartments - Antigua, Guatemala

We spent the beginning of our time in Antigua being proper overlanders, staying in cramped, cheap apartments with the only requirement being that they were clean.  After Gracie got sick and had to have surgery, we knew, if we were going to stay longer term, that we all needed somewhere a little more comfortable and with an enclosed yard for rehabilitative walks.  We found the San Bartolo apartments and loved them! They are perfect with weekly, monthly and long-term rates.  Gated parking, nice friendly neighbors, great location on the edge of the city but within walking distance to everything.  The fireplace is truly amazing for Antigua's cool nights and by far, the best feature is the rooftop deck with a view of Volcan de Fuego.

MERAKI BOUTIQUE HOTEL-  Zona 10 Guatemala City, Guatemala

We had to stay in Guatemala City on multiple occasions and we always took these opportunities to splurge very seriously.   When Gracie was having surgery at a vet in the city, we needed to stay close by for a few days.  We found the Meraki.  Beautiful, unique, secure parking, included breakfast, unlimited bottled water or tea, great location and they accepted our dog with no problem.  They were also willing to negotiate the price on a slow weeknight (not much but a little).  The customer service is at the Meraki is unbeatable as is the experience.   We stayed their twice and both times the experience was perfect.  We walked to local restaurants, the mall and to the movie theater.
