Cinco Hotel - San Salvador, El Salvador

One of our faves!! We couldn't stop coming back to this place and every time we did we found something else to love about it.  Cinco hotel is a small boutique hotel in the middle of San Salvador.  It feels more like a retreat center than a hotel.  Having only a few rooms, the attention is very personal.  The entire hotel is based upon sustainable ideas.  Most of the decor is made from upcycled materials but done so beautifully, you would never know.  The hotel has its own garden where it grows organic vegetables.  There is a natural food market in the lobby and yoga sessions onsite.  Rooms come with free breakfast and coffee.  Seriously, if you are in San Salvador, this is the place to stay.  Its reasonably priced, has secure parking and you'll feel like you're at home, but better.

D' Takito Horizonte Surf Resort - El Zonte Beach, El Salvador

At first glance, D'Takito isn't much to look at but as far as overlanding campsites, its king.  There is a pool and fast wifi, you are steps from the ocean, there is a clean bathroom and shower.  What more could you ask for?  Oh, you want more? Okay! How about a fruit/veggie truck that comes around every single morning?  Not enough?  There is a large iguana named Paco that lives happily on the property.  There is a balcony to have drinks and watch the sunset with your overlanding friends.  A short walk down the road brings you to 2$ breakfast.  This is proper overlanding.
